The Palestinian Democratic Youth Union celebrates Cuba's victory against the blockade at the United Nations General Assembly
The representative of the Palestinian Democratic Youth Union (PDYU) and member of the FDLP, Yousef Ahmad, sent the following message to the Cuban Embassy in Lebanon:
Statement issued by the Secretariat of the Palestinian Democratic Youth Union – PDYU
Greetings to Cuba from the Revolution and the resistance... Together against the blockade and imperialism!
The Palestinian Democratic Youth Union – PDYU extends its warmest greetings of struggle and internationalist solidarity to the friendly Cuban people and their revolutionary leadership, on the occasion of the overwhelming vote by the United Nations General Assembly in favor of ending the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed on the Republic of Cuba for more than six decades.
The vote of 165 countries in favor of the resolution, against the opposition of the United States and its few allies, reaffirms once again that the world is on the side of Cuba's revolution, sovereignty, and national dignity, and rejects the continuation of aggressive and imperialist policies that seek to subjugate the will and independence of free peoples.
The Palestinian Democratic Youth Union considers the US blockade against Cuba to be a human and economic crime, contrary to the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter. It represents a flagrant violation of the right of peoples to self-determination and independent development, and is a continuation of the same US policy that imposes blockades and aggression on the peoples of the world, from Cuba and Venezuela to Palestine.
We at the UJDP express our firm solidarity with Cuba, its revolutionary people, and its leadership, and we urge the international community to exert serious pressure to bring an immediate end to the blockade and transform United Nations resolutions from mere symbolic recommendations into practical and binding measures that guarantee the right of peoples to freedom, sovereignty, and social justice.
We also renew our call to broaden the international youth solidarity front against blockades and sanctions, in defense of the values of liberation and equality, convinced that the destiny of peoples in struggle is one, and their enemy is also one: imperialism, exploitation, and occupation.
Long live free, revolutionary, and resilient Cuba!
Long live the unity of peoples fighting for freedom, justice, and dignity!
