The President of the League of Palestinian Graduates of Cuban Universities and Institutes in Lebanon, Ali Al Khatib, sent the following letter to the Cuban ambassador in Beirut on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of the passing of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, historic leader of the Cuban Revolution:
Beirut, November 25, 2025
Comrade Ambassador of Cuba to Lebanon
Jorge León Cruz
On the ninth anniversary of the passing of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, it is important to highlight some fundamental points that characterize Fidel's intelligence and his experience in the revolutionary struggle:
1. Fidel continued the struggle of his ancestors for the liberation of Cuba: Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, Máximo Gómez, Antonio Maceo, and José Martí.
2. He fought peacefully, alongside the humble masses, workers, peasants, students, and intellectuals, to achieve the interests of the Cuban people.
3. When peaceful attempts to resolve the causes of the people's discontent with the dictatorial regime failed, there was no other option but to take up arms in the popular struggle.
4. He sacrificed his life, leading the guerrilla attack on the Moncada barracks to start the armed popular revolution.
5. He confronted the forces of the regime at trial, justifying and defending the struggle of the people, the struggle of the guerrillas, with his outstanding defense in court, in “History Will Absolve Me.”
Fidel, a decisive leader, fought relentlessly on July 26, 1952, in the prison of Batista's military regime, in preparation for the Granma landing.
7. He continued the armed struggle with the guerrillas who survived the landing, with only a few guerrilla fighters and rifles, and despite the physical loss of most of the guerrillas, he made the decision to continue the struggle in his meeting with Raúl Castro in Las Cuatro Palmas.
8. With dozens of guerrillas, he faced the offensive of the dictatorship's army.
9. He achieved the unity of the revolutionary forces in the process of the revolution.
10. When the revolution triumphed, he nationalized Cuba's key companies.
11. He called for a government of the entire people.
12. The Cuban revolution took on an internationalist character, providing selfless aid to the struggles of the peoples of Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
13. He defended the causes of the Arab people in their struggle for national liberation and, above all, the struggle of the Palestinian people for liberation and independence.
14. He defined the revolutionary people and the revolution.
15. Fidel is the symbol of the Cuban struggle and revolution.
16. Thanks to Fidel's intelligence, the Cuban revolution confronted the mercenary aggression of the American empire and resisted decades of cruel and aggressive blockade by the empire.
The study of Fidel's experience and struggle is the goal of revolutionaries and nationalists who fight for the welfare and future of their peoples.
