The Philippines-Cuba Friendship Association (AMISTAD) condemns Trump's threats against the Cuban people and government.

Manila, January 21, 2026. The Embassy of Cuba thanks the Philippines-Cuba Friendship Association (AMISTAD) for its statement condemning Trump's threats against the Cuban people and government, in which they reaffirm the call: Hands off Cuba!

The statement reads:

Amistad Denounces Trump’s Coercive Threats against the Cuban People: Hands

Off Cuba!

The Philippines-Cuba Friendship Association (Amistad) condemns Donald Trump’s reckless threats against the Cuban people and their government. The imperialist US flaunts its hegemonic power through criminal bombings and coercive intimidation of nations that dare assert sovereignty beyond its control.

Trump’s declaration that Venezuelan oil and money will no longer reach Cuba, coupled with his arrogant warning that Cuba must strike deals with the US “before it’s too late,” is a blatant act of imperialist coercion. It weaponizes the Venezuelan situation as a tool of fear, meant to intimidate Latin American nations that resist submission. Thirty-two Cuban soldiers were also brutally murdered by US troops when they bombed Venezuela and abducted its president Nicolas Maduro. US aggression today is the aggression of a thug state—criminally threatening nations, extorting resources, and unleashing unrestrained violence across regions.

The Cuban government has consistently sought dialogue with the US on the basis of sovereign equality, mutual respect, and international law, as President Miguel Diaz-Canel has affirmed. Yet Trump’s regime tramples these principles, even declaring that he does not need international law, claiming only his own “morality” can restrain his wars against peoples. This is the arrogance of unchecked imperialism.

The Cuban people have the right to determine their destiny. No hegemon devoid of morality has the right to strip them of sovereignty—not Trump, not the US. Imperialist aggression cannot be disguised as “protection” or “problem-solving” when the problems are of US creation. The truth is clear: the US cannot tolerate even a single act of defiance in its hemisphere.

Trump now acts as a terrorist dictator on the world stage. Just as the US oppresses Cuba, it subjects the Filipino people to fascist repression and economic hardship through puppet regimes it supports. From neoliberal policies to counterinsurgency campaigns, US imperialism has inflicted poverty and brutal exploitation on the Filipino people. All oppressed peoples must unite under one banner to resist Trump’s draconian regime and the relentless aggressions of US imperialism.

We demand an immediate end to Trump’s threats. We demand to uphold Cuba’s sovereignty and right to self-determination. We demand an end to US economic coercion, which inflicts enormous suffering on the Cuban people and denies them rightful access to humanitarian aid, trade, and economic relief.

We call on the Filipino people, the peoples of Latin America, and all oppressed nations to stand in militant solidarity with Cuba. Just as how Cuban internationalist soldiers stood shoulder to shoulder with Venezuela against US imperialist assault, we call on all people to strengthen the bonds of resistance, forge unity across borders, and confront US imperialism wherever it rears its head.

Hands off Cuba!

End the Sanctions and Blockade!

US Imperialist No. 1 Terrorist!
