Addis Ababa, September 5, 2026.- To mark the Ethiopian New Year, a traditional religious ceremony was held at the Cuban Embassy in Ethiopia. During the event, Ethiopian friends and graduates of Cuban educational programs expressed their support for the Cuban people during these challenging times and offered prayers on their behalf.
In her remarks, Cuban Ambassador Meylin Suárez Álvarez called for global peace and extended her sincerest wishes for happiness and prosperity to the Ethiopian people for the new year, 2019. She further emphasized that the friendship between Cuba and Ethiopia is unbreakable and will continue to serve as a pillar of cooperation and brotherhood.
Later in the gathering, several guests shared their reflections, highlighting the role played by Cuba and Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in supporting the Ethiopian people as they defended their sovereignty—a gesture that forged an enduring bond between the two nations.
The event stood as a testament to the solidarity uniting both nations and reaffirmed that, in the face of adversity, Cuba does not stand alone.
