Addis Ababa, May 23, 2024.- The Ambassador of Cuba to the African Union, Lourdes A. Marrero Oro, during a courtesy audience offered at the headquarters of the African organization, said goodbye to the President of the AU, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat on the occasion of the upcoming end of her mission in Ethiopia.
The Cuban ambassador expressed her gratitude for the support received from the AU in the fight against the blockade of Cuba and the position taken in order to remove the island from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. She also expressed the great honor it meant for her to represent Cuba before the continental organization.
For his part, H.E. Moussa Faki, thanked Cuba for the historic solidarity expressed with the peoples of Africa and its contribution to the struggle against apartheid and the freedom of African nations. He also highlighted Cuba's support in the development of the health and education sector in Africa.
The president of the AU said that the continental organization has a great duty to Cuba, in the struggle for the defense of its just causes, not only in the Summits held, but whenever necessary.
