Vienna, June 27 - The First Secretary of the Cuban Embassy in Austria, Lisset González López, held a cordial meeting with Mrs. Klaudia Frieben, President of the Austrian Women's Association (Österreichische Frauenring), and Mrs. Sibel Ada, Vice President of the organization. Rosemarie Ertl, treasurer, and Mara Kropf, member of the association, also participated in the meeting.
During the exchange, the Cuban representative updated the Austrian leaders on the progress made in the advancement of women in Cuba, highlighting the leading role of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC). They also discussed the persistent challenges, aggravated by the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, which limits access to resources and funding for essential programs that guarantee women's rights on the island.
The meeting made it possible to identify potential for collaboration between the FMC and the Frauenring, especially on issues of common interest.
With this first meeting at the Embassy, the possibility of closer cooperation between the women's organizations of both countries is opened, reaffirming the willingness to work together in the protection and promotion of all human rights for all people, particularly women and girls.
The Österreichischer Frauenring (ÖFR) is a non-partisan organization that acts as the main platform for women's organizations in Austria. It was founded in 1969. With more than 50 member organizations, it represents more than one million women in Austria.
