Namibia, June 3rd, 2020- The President of the Republic of Namibia, H.E. Dr. Hage Geingob sent a warm message of congratulations to Army General Raúl Castro, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, on the occasion of his 89th birthday.
Below we reproduce the message in its entirety.
June 3, 2020
On behalf of the people and Government of the Republic of Namibia, as well as the leadership, and rank and file of the SWAPO Party, it is my profound pleasure to extend to you, Dear Comrade, felicitations on the occasion of the celebration of your 89th birthday.
A destiny of greatness was bestowed on you Comrade, from the moment you, together with your beloved brother Comandante Fidel Castro, Che Guevara and other brave sons of the Cuba Revolution, made landfall on Cuban soil on December 2, 1956.
That pivotal moment in world history, symbolized by bravery, resoluteness and unrivalled conviction, marked the beginning of a new wave of revolution that swept across the whole world, leaving an indelible footprint on the 20th Century global political landscape.
On this momentous occasion I am reminded of the words of the Cuban National Hero José Marti: “Men are like the stars; some generate their own light while others reflect the brilliance they receive”. Comrade Raul, your, exceptional leadership of the Cuban people throughout the years has been characterized not only by a light generated from within the core of your soul but also by the light emanating from the Children of the Cuban Revolution.
Comrade Raul, you are a beacon of hope, strength and perseverance, not only for our Cuban brothers and sisters but for all the people of the world who struggle daily against the forces of oppression, racism and tyranny. Your life, exemplifies the spirit of struggle and the gift of liberation.
Dear Comrade Raul, may you continue to prosper and enjoy good health and strength for many more years to come. Happy 89th birthday, from the sons and daughters of Namibia. Venceremos.
Please accept, Comrade, the assurance of my highest consideration and esteem.
Hage G. Geingob
