Press Release from the Movement for Social Justice in Support of Cuba

Port of Spain, January 25, 2025. The Movement for Social Justice (MSJ) in Trinidad and Tobago has condemned the Executive Order issued by President Trump to once again include Cuba on the so-called list of state sponsors of terrorism.

In a press release signed by its leader, David Abdullah, the MSJ analyzes the actions of recent U.S. administrations against Cuba, referencing the Monroe Doctrine and Manifest Destiny as part of an imperialist agenda aimed at dominating the nations of Latin America and the Caribbean. According to the MSJ, Biden should have reversed Trump’s decrees upon taking office and returned to the Obama-era status quo of which he was a part.

This latest designation, the MSJ adds in its statement, is a blatant falsehood, asserting that "Trump-Rubio, along with the neo-fascists who now control other key arms of the U.S. state, will do everything possible to destroy the Cuban Revolution."

The statement also calls on Caribbean nations to ensure that Trump’s objectives do not prevail in Cuba, warning that if they do, all Caribbean nations would face the same threat. The MSJ believes the intentions of the current president are not good for the region, as evidenced by his expansionist policies and attempts to take control of other territories, as mentioned in his speeches.
