Prime Minister of Nepal and members of his Cabinet receive Cuban Ambassador.

The Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, received this week, at the government headquarters in Kathmandu, the Ambassador of Cuba, Alejandro Simancas Marin.

During the cordial meeting, the Nepalese Chief Executive highlighted the historical ties of friendship between the two countries, which celebrated their 48th anniversary on March 25. He highlighted the feeling of admiration they have for Cuba and the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, for the example of resistance, social advances and international solidarity. He thanked the presence of a Cuban medical brigade after the earthquake that hit Nepal in 2015 and conveyed their opposition to the blockade policy against Cuba. He also reiterated his willingness to strengthen bilateral ties and explore avenues of cooperation for that purpose. 

The Cuban Ambassador was also received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Narayan Prakash Saud, to whom he conveyed the congratulatory message of his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, on his recent designation to the post. 

He also held a meeting with Sudan Kirati, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, to whom he extended an invitation to participate in the First International Heritage Congress to be held in early May in Havana. 

In the different meetings, the willingness of both governments to strengthen the ties between the two countries and to continue evaluating the potentialities for this purpose was ratified. They also addressed issues of the international agenda, cooperation and exchange in the multilateral space, as well as the development of the Cuban Presidency of the 77+China Group, to whose formation Nepal also belongs. 

Ambassador Alejandro Simancas to Nepal, resident in India, is making a working visit to Kathmandu where he has held various meetings and activities.
