In salute to July 26 in Lebanon, solidarity with Cuba reiterated
Representatives of the Friendship Association, of Cuban Residents, of the League of Palestinian and Lebanese Graduates, as well as of the Latin American José Martí organization reiterated here today their solidarity with Cuba.
In the context of the 69th anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, Cuban friends reaffirmed their support and commitment to the people and government of the Caribbean island.
About thirty Cubans, Lebanese and Palestinians accompanied the Antillean diplomatic mission in the celebration of the National Rebellion Day on July 26th.
In the surroundings of the ruins of Roman baths in the monastery of Deir el-Qalaa (Beit Meri) in the east of this capital, the attendees signified the historical fact in the awakening of the island until obtaining the revolutionary triumph on January 1, 1959.
The political-cultural activity allowed the reunion, the remembrance and the anecdotes of the friends in solidarity, who transmitted a message of peace and brotherhood towards the Cuban people.
During the commemoration, Cuban diplomat Jorge León thanked the expressions of support and paid tribute to the memory of the so-called Centenary Generation, which confronted the dictatorship of the then coup president, Fulgencio Batista, in search of profound political, economic and social transformations.
On behalf of Noemí Rabaza, first vice-president of the Cuban Institute with the Peoples, León highlighted the work of the friends of the Caribbean country in Lebanon in the constant denunciation against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the government of the United States for more than six decades.
Salsa, trova and son music, together with a game of dominoes enlivened the commemoration that consolidated Cuba's relations with friends and supporters in Lebanon.
In a few hours, the Cuban people will pay tribute to the anniversary led by Fidel Castro and a group of young people, inspired by the thoughts of the National Hero, José Martí.
