The Consul General of Cuba in Toronto, Jorge Yanier Castellanos Orta, held meetings with Premier Doug Ford and the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Edith Dumont, marking the end of his mission in Canada and his return to Cuba.
The meetings took place in a friendly atmosphere, where Canadian authorities acknowledged the work carried out by the Cuban diplomat during this period in strengthening the ties between our country and the Canadian province.
For his part, the Consul General expressed gratitude for all the support received during his four-year mission, which allowed for the opening of new avenues and cooperation projects in strategic sectors for both countries, especially this year, as we celebrate the 80th anniversary of uninterrupted diplomatic relations.
In addition to the aforementioned meetings, the Consul General held similar exchanges with members of the Ontario Parliament such as Marit Stiles, Leader of the New Democratic Party in Ontario, and Logan Kanapathi, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Red Tape Reduction and a member of the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs; as well as with Verónica Panton, Director of International Relations and Chief of Protocol for the Province, and with Eric Rennie, Manager of Protocol Services for the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, among other authorities.
In all the meetings, the recognition and affection for the Cuban people were reaffirmed, as was the commitment to continue working to strengthen the historical bilateral ties.
