Addis Ababa, February 17, 2026.- During his participation in activities at the African Union headquarters, the Cuban Ambassador to the African Union, Lucas Domingo Hernández, held a fruitful and cordial meeting with the Secretary General of the Pan-African Women's Organization (PAWO), Dr. Majoro Grace Kabayo, as well as with a group of prominent women members of that continental organization.

During the exchange, the Cuban diplomat highlighted the excellent progress of the Summit and its side events, emphasizing the atmosphere of unity, commitment, and strategic vision that characterized the discussions. In this context, he underscored the leading role of African women in the political, economic and social processes of the region, recognizing their historical leadership in the struggles for independence, social justice and the continent's sustainable development.

The Ambassador also shared an update on the current situation in Cuba, marked by the impact of the intensified economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government. She emphasized the resilience and dignity of the Cuban people, as well as the importance of international solidarity as an essential pillar for facing current challenges.

For her part, Dr. Majoro Grace Kabayo expressed her firm and categorical rejection of the blockade policy against the Cuban people, calling it unjust and contrary to international law.
