CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
“With all and for the good of all”
For Dialogue between Civilizations and For a Culture of Peace
Encouraged by the success of the most recent Conference held in 2025, which was attended by more than 1200 delegates from 98 countries, the World Council of the ‘José Martí Project for International Solidarity’ is convening the Seventh International Conference ‘FOR THE BALANCE OF THE WORLD’, scheduled to take place in Havana from January 26 to 30, 2027.
This call is open to writers, historians, journalists, artists, politicians, economists, scientists, social activists and intellectuals in general; to representatives of social and solidarity movements, trade unions and religious institutions; members of non-governmental, scientific, feminist, youth, peasant and environmental organizations; to all persons of good will motivated by the defense of social justice, equitable development, dialogue, tolerance, peace, the most beautiful humanistic sentiments and the desire and commitment to build a better world.
This global forum for pluralistic and multidisciplinary thinking is supported and co-sponsored by UNESCO, the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture, the ‘Culture of Peace’ Foundation, Soka Gakkai International, the Latin American Council of Social Sciences, the organization ‘A World Beyond War’, ‘Progressive International’, ‘Eight Goals One Foundation’ from India; the ‘ECOCIVILIZATION’ movement from Slovenia; the ‘Seed of Peace’ organization from Italy; the ‘International Centre of Humanity’ and other international, regional and national institutions, as well as several universities from different parts of the world.
The Conference will take place in a context in which humanity finds itself at a crossroads, where those who wish to impose a unipolar and hegemonic world are clashing with those who reaffirm the need to strengthen multilateralism and respect for international standards agreed upon by all countries; where the paths to development are being discussed and the current unjust and irrational global economic and social order is being challenged; where there is a debate over whether science should be at the service of human well-being or whether it is merely a big business to enrich a few; where there is a confrontation between hatred, the use of force to resolve conflicts, discrimination and countless anti-values, on the one hand, and love, the idea of good, dialogue in the search for peace and the most beautiful values that humanity has cultivated over centuries, on the other; where, all in all, we would reflect on a number of problems that have an effect on the present and future of human beings and societies.
Precisely, the International Conferences ‘FOR THE BALANCE OF THE WORLD’ have become important academic and scientific fora for various branches of knowledge, to debate on these fundamental contemporary problems and identify common objectives that would favor global unity of action and, by extension, raise international public awareness about the importance of dialogue over war, love over hatred and solidarity over selfishness.
This global gathering will coincide with the 174th anniversary of the birth of the Apostle of Cuban Independence, an outstanding universal thinker whose profoundly humanistic and extraordinarily relevant work inspires efforts in support of the best causes and social justice.
The event will be an auspicious occasion to facilitate important relationships among people of goodwill and provide greater visibility and substance to the struggle for the common ideal of improving the world. Old and new friends will come together in the quest for a global unity of action to raise awareness. This meeting is also intended to become a continuation of the world conferences ‘Dialogue among Civilizations’; an extension of the debates of the World Congress of Humanities, organized by UNESCO and the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences; and a continuation of the debates of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences.
Fundamental issues will be addressed through commissions, panels, participatory workshops, round tables, symposiums, master lectures and other forms of discussion. Special emphasis will be placed on fostering spaces for direct exchange that would facilitate the creation of lasting collaborative links, thus allowing participants to learn about diverse realities and share strategies from different territories. As usual, the memoirs of the event will be published in digital format for a broad distribution through universities and research centers.
The Seventh International Conference ‘FOR THE BALANCE OF THE WORLD’ will address a wide-ranging agenda that will include, among others, the following main themes:

- Artificial intelligence: Context, perspectives and realities. Risks and advantages.
- Climate change, loss of biodiversity, and other environmental challenges to the survival of the planet.
- The defense of the Amazon and the other lungs of the planet.
- The importance of reforestation.
- The healthy preservation of seas, rivers and lagoons.
- The protection of coastal areas, wetlands and coral reefs.
- Strategies for the comprehensive management of natural resources and the recovery of biodiversity.
- Water problems related aspects.
- Environmental and democratic governance and the role of communities and citizens.
- Building a participatory, effective and real democracy.
- The importance of dialogue between civilizations and respect for cultural diversity.
- Affirming a culture of peace at a global scale in the face of the emergence of neo-fascism.
- Bases for the consolidation of progressive forces in Latin America, Europe and other regions of the world.
- The right to universal and lifelong education.
- Education for peace and disinvestment in the arms industry.
- The urgent need for nuclear disarmament.
- The Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace: the importance of embracing and defending it.

- The great thinkers of the South who are often overlooked due to ethnocentric academicism.
- Contributions of Latin American thought, from Bolívar and Martí to contemporary times.
- José Martí and his pioneering ideas on integration and a multi-polar order and how they are linked to the highest universal thoughts.
GENERAL INFORMATION
VENUE AND OFFICIAL LANGUAGES
The conference will be held at the Havana’s International Conference Center, Cuba. The official languages of the event will be Spanish, English and Portuguese. Additionally, simultaneous interpretation into French and Russian will be provided during the plenary sessions.
PRESENTATION OF PAPERS
Those interested in participating as speakers should submit their presentations to the Organizing Committee before November 30, 2026.
Presentations should include:
- Title.
- Author’s data (name and country).
- Summary of no more than 100 words, in Arial 12 font.
- Audiovisual aids requirements for the presentation, if applicable.
- The full presentation may also be sent or delivered to the Organizing Committee, once in Havana, on a USB flash drive, for subsequent publication in the memoirs that will be published.

CONFERENCE MEMOIRS
At the end of the event, the minutes as well as all presentations made at the conference will be published in digital format. These memoirs will be delivered to universities, study centers and the network of contacts of the ‘José Martí’ Project for International Solidarity. For this reason, speakers are requested to submit the full text of their presentations to the Organizing Committee, either in person upon arrival in Cuba or in advance by e-mail. They shall request acknowledgment of receipt in the latter case.
ACADEMIC ACCREDITATION
All registered delegates, whether participants or speakers, will receive the same accreditation diploma certifying the corresponding academic credits, in accordance with international regulations.

- Undergraduate students: 80.00 USD (valid supporting documentation should be submitted).
- Accompanying persons: 60.00 USD
Registration fees shall include lunches at the Conference Center's dining facilities; access to a closing cocktail party and invitations to attend artistic and cultural activities outside the scientific program, including a gala in honor of the participants to be held at an iconic theater in Havana.

Although online payment is the preferred modality, participants who are unable to use it may pay in person. To do so, they must have previously registered with the Organizing Committee. This can be done at the Conference Center on Monday, January 25, 2027, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
CREDENTIALS AND DOCUMENTS
Formally registered participants will receive their credentials and event documentation at the Conference Center in Havana on Monday, January 25, within the aforementioned hours or earlier if they wish.
Documents shall include the scientific program, invitations to parallel activities, and other relevant information.
