Vienna, 3 September 2018. In the VolksstimmeFest, the traditional festival which is annually organized by the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ by its German initials) and was held on 1 and 2 September in Vienna, Cuba had a prominent presence by means of its stand and in other scenarios; represented by its Embassy in Austria; Cuba Va, the Association of Cuban Residents in this country; ÖKG, the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association and other friendship organizations and artists who reside abroad.
The intense political-cultural program developed in these spaces was an excellent opportunity to disseminate the most current and interesting topics about Cuba, such as the process of popular consultation on the Constitutional Reform; actions to denounce the persistence and damage of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba presented in the 2018 Report of Cuba; and other crucial topics like the promotion of business opportunities in Cuba; the disclosure of the 13th Meeting of Cuban Residents in Europe to be held in Brussels from 19 to 21 October and the 28th European Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba to be held in Bohijn, Slovenia from 23 to 25 November this year.
The Cuban stand was visited by the President of the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ), Mr. Mirko Messner; the Ambassador of Venezuela to Austria, H.E. Mr. Jesse Chacón and the Venezuelan member of the parliament, Mr. Haiman Al Troudi among other personalities who extensively talked to the Cuban Ambassador to Austria, H.E. Mr. Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios.
The audience enjoyed the cultural program offered in various artistic expressions such as dance, music and entertainment for children, in which the Cuban artists who reside in Austria and in other neighboring countries such as Slovakia and Italy stood out. These activities were complemented with varied offers of traditional Cuban cuisine and cocktails, which helped to promote an attractive and positive image of the country and motivated the Cuban stand to be one of the most popular at the event.
Once again the festival was an appropriate scenario to provide current information about Cuba, shared with other left-wing parties and organizations in the world, to promote the integration of Cuban residents and friends of the Island, to attract sympathy and solidarity from the thousands of attendees of Austria and other nationalities to this traditional and vital celebration.
