Vienna, March 30.—Pablo Berti Oliva, Cuba’s Ambassador to Slovenia (resident in Austria), paid a working visit to several Slovenian cities as part of the “Latin America and the Caribbean Days” event organized by the Slovenian Ministry of European and International Affairs on March 26 and 27.
During the visit, the Cuban diplomat held meetings with the President of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, and with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European and International Affairs, Tanja Fajon. In both meetings, Ambassador Berti Oliva briefed the Slovenian authorities on the current situation in Cuba and the impact of the intensified blockade against the island, particularly the energy blockade.
The Cuban diplomat’s visit included the “Jožef Stefan” Institute (JSI), which houses a nuclear research reactor; the Krško nuclear power plant; and the port of Koper. At the latter location, meetings were also held with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Primorska region and business leaders from those localities.
The Latin America and Caribbean Days have been organized by the Slovenian Ministry of European and International Affairs for the past nine years and bring together the region’s ambassadors accredited to Slovenia. It is an ideal opportunity to strengthen ties of friendship and bilateral relations, as well as to forge cultural, academic, scientific, and economic ties with Slovenia.
