Zagreb, May 23, 2026. - The Socialist Workers’ Party of Croatia (SRP) has issued a statement of full and unconditional solidarity with the Revolutionary Government, the Communist Party of Cuba, and the Cuban people.
The Croatian organization strongly condemned the escalation of U.S. imperialist aggression against the island, which reached a particularly dangerous new level in May 2026.
In its statement, the SRP described the U.S. Department of Justice’s indictment of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, published on May 20, 2026, as “atrocious and politically motivated.”
Once again, the SRP condemned the brutal U.S. economic, commercial, and financial blockade, which intensified during Donald Trump’s second term with an energy blockade that has caused disruptions to the Cuban power grid and other associated repercussions.
Finally, the statement also rejected the new sanctions against 11 Cuban officials and three government agencies, as well as the secondary sanctions affecting foreign companies that trade with Cuba. Likewise, the SRP demanded that the Croatian authorities, the European Union, and the international community immediately lift all sanctions against Cuba.
The SRP has historically maintained a position of firm solidarity with the Cuban Revolution, repeatedly denouncing the U.S. blockade and supporting the Cuban people’s right to self-determination and their socialist path of development.
