Solidarity campaign with Cuba holds fundraising dinner at the Trade Center of Saint George

As part of the solidarity campaign with Cuba currently taking place in Grenada, a fundraising dinner was held at the Trade Center of Saint George, bringing together government authorities, diplomatic representatives, and members of civil society. The event aimed to raise funds in support of the Greater of the Antilles and to reaffirm the unity of the peoples in the face of the difficulties confronting the Island.

Among the attendees were the Minister of Tourism, Creative Economy and Culture, Adrian A. Thomas; the Minister of Legal Affairs, Labour and Consumer Affairs and Attorney General, Claudette Joseph; and the Minister of Health, Philip A. Telesford. Their presence lent institutional prominence to the activity, which also included leaders of political parties and civil society representatives.

During the evening, Malachy Dottin and Ruggles Ferguson, leaders of the solidarity initiative, delivered statements denouncing the responsibility of the United States blockade and the most recent energy siege, applied since January 2026, in Cuba’s current situation. Both emphasized the need to maintain solidarity with the Greater of the Antilles and to accompany its people in the defense of their sovereignty.

The Ambassador of Cuba to Grenada, Yadirys Echenique Paz, took the opportunity to update those present on the economic and social situation of her country. She explained the cumulative effects of more than six decades of blockade and the immediate impact of the energy siege, which has limited Cuba’s ability to import fuel and aggravated the daily difficulties of the population.

The event also included the participation of Cubans residing in Grenada, who joined the campaign with their contributions and active presence. Their involvement was recognized as a gesture of commitment and permanent connection with the homeland, strengthening the spirit of the solidarity initiative.

The dinner at the Trade Center of Saint George became a space for reaffirming the friendship between Cuba and Grenada, where the commitment to continue working together to confront the challenges imposed by coercive measures was renewed.
