Vienna, February 24. The Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (ÖKG) made a donation of ten thousand euros to the MediCuba-Europa project, which will contribute to the installation of photovoltaic panels at the Cardiocentro of the William Soler Pediatric Hospital in Havana.
The project, promoted by MediCuba-Europa, aims to guarantee the energy stability of the Cardiocenter, a national reference institution that cares for children with congenital heart disease and other complex cardiovascular conditions. The installation of photovoltaic panels will ensure the uninterrupted operation of vital equipment, operating rooms, and intensive care units, especially in the context of the intensification of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States, which hinders access to fuel and spare parts.
ÖKG has made several previous donations to similar causes, such as those made in 2025 for the purchase of pacemakers and the installation of photovoltaic panels at the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), a project that is nearing completion and where students are already taking advantage of the energy; and it is currently continuing to work on organizing new campaigns to support initiatives that benefit the Cuban people.
