Vienna, March 21. A demonstration of hundreds of people in support of Cuba took place today in the Austrian capital. Organized by the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (ÖKG @oekg.ooe) and various political groups, the demonstrators marched along Vienna’s main avenues with the aim of promoting solidarity with the island and demanding an immediate end to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
Participants placed special emphasis on the need to confront and denounce the intensification of the energy blockade against Cuba, imposed on January 29 via an Executive Order by the U.S. president, which seeks to strangle the Cuban economy and limit the island’s access to energy sources.
Along the route, slogans were heard calling for international solidarity and highlighting the Cuban people’s resistance against imperialism. Participants carried banners, flags, and other symbols representing Cuba and progressive struggles, reflecting their commitment to the island’s cause and the values of social justice.
Over the past three months, the solidarity movement in Austria has organized a wide-ranging program of activities aimed at supporting Cuba, with this demonstration being the largest to date. The event took place in an atmosphere of solidarity and commitment to the struggle in support of Cuba and its people in the face of current threats.
