Vienna, December 18. Tonight, the Cuban Embassy in Austria organized a moving gathering with friends and members of solidarity organizations, in a gesture of recognition and brotherhood between peoples.
The event was attended by members of the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (ÖKG) and its Kuratorium, representatives of the Austrian Labor Party (PdA), and young activists from the Communist Youth of Austria who, every year, raise their voices in front of the United Nations headquarters in Vienna to demand an end to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba.
The meeting, which also marked Human Solidarity Day, reflected the deep bond between Cuba and its Austrian allies, who maintain a commitment to justice and sovereignty for the Caribbean island.
In his welcoming remarks, Pablo Berti Oliva, Cuba's ambassador to Austria, conveyed a heartfelt message of gratitude to all those present and highlighted the historical and moral importance of their support, especially in the fight against a policy that affects the Cuban people on a daily basis. “Your solidarity is not only an act of political support, but a human gesture deeply appreciated by Cuba,” said the diplomat.
For his part, Hermann Pernerstorfer, President of the ÖKG, reiterated the unwavering commitment of Austrian solidarity organizations to the Cuban cause. In his speech, he confirmed the determination to continue mobilizing, spreading the truth about Cuba, and demanding the lifting of the blockade, as well as promoting concrete actions of cooperation and friendship.
The atmosphere during the evening was one of warm fellowship, with exchanges on upcoming joint initiatives and the reaffirmation of the ties that unite the peoples of Cuba and Austria. The celebration also served to honor the spirit of Human Solidarity Day, underscoring the importance of international cooperation and solidarity and mutual support in building a more just world.
