Monrovia, March 22nd 2018-, The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Liberia, Hon. Dr. Bhofal Chambers, visited yesterday the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy in this country where he was received by the Chargé d' Affaires, Yordenis Despaigne Vera, accompanied by the Second Secretary, Carmen Maury Toledo.
Mr. Chambers expressed his joy to reciprocate the visit that the Cuban Mission Chief made him earlier this month, and his desire to contribute to the increase of ties between both countries, particularly among the Liberian legislators and their counterparts from Cuba. He also reiterated his gratitude for the assistance provided by Cuba to Liberia during the 2014 Ebola outbreak and advocated the realization of bilateral agreements on health, education and agriculture.
For his part, the Cuban diplomat thanked the distinguished representative of the Liberian government for his visit and assured that his presence in the Embassy constituted an unequivocal expression of the good state of diplomatic relations between both nations. He reiterated the Cuban government's willingness to work with the new administration in Liberia to strengthen bilateral relations and establish collaborative ties for the benefit of both peoples. He also thanked the Liberian government for its support to Cuba's fight against the illegal blockade imposed by the USA against the Cuban people for more than 50 years.
