Speaker of the Nepalese Parliament reaffirms support to Cuba in the demand to lift the blockade.

The Cuban ambassador to Nepal, Alejandro Simancas Marin, held a courtesy meeting on Wednesday with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dev Raj Ghimire. 

During the meeting they discussed issues such as parliamentary exchange and the expansion of relations between the two countries. The Nepalese parliamentary leader recalled the 48th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Cuba, and expressed his willingness to strengthen ties and explore avenues of cooperation in the economic, social and political fields. He also expressed his rejection of the US blockade and assured that Nepal would continue to support the just demand to end it. He praised and thanked the assistance provided by the Cuban medical brigade during the earthquake in Nepal in 2015. He also conveyed his congratulations to the re-elected President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Diaz and President of the National Assembly of People's Power, Esteban Lazo. He concluded by reaffirming that Nepal is ready to expand the friendly relations and parliamentary exchanges of both countries. 

The Cuban diplomat, for his part, also reaffirmed the interest in boosting bilateral relations through the relations between the two legislatures and expressed his gratitude for the support of the Nepalese government and people for the demand to put an end to the blockade.  

The Cuban ambassador to Nepal, Alejandro Simancas Marin, resident in India, is on a working visit to Kathmandu, where he has met with several government authorities.
