Statement by the Director General of Consular Affairs and Attention to Cubans Residing Abroad, Ana Teresita González Fraga, on the cessation of entry into the country with an expired Cuban passport
Havana, December 6, 2024.- In March 2020, based on the situations generated by Covid-19, the Cuban government ordered on an exceptional basis, that Cubans residing in the national territory who were abroad could return to the country without having to renew their passports. This measure was implemented on a temporary basis, with the aim of protecting our nationals in the midst of the pandemic.
Considering the time that has elapsed, the normalization of international flights, and the operation of our consular offices, it has been decided to establish March 31, 2025 as the deadline for the entry into the country of Cuban citizens with expired passports.
Our consular offices abroad are fully available and capable of providing this service, with the speed it requires, so that Cubans can enter the country with their valid passport, as of April 1, 2025.
