Statement by the José Martí Arab-Latin American Solidarity Association

Tomorrow, October 28, 2025, Cuba will present to the United Nations General Assembly its report on the unjust and illegal blockade that US Atlantic imperialism imposes on the Cuban people, who resist all the economic difficulties that this blockade has caused for more than six decades, without giving up in defense of their dignity, the sovereignty of their homeland, and their political and economic independence, and preserving a human, moral, and ethical legacy passed down to them by their historic leader, Fidel Castro Ruz, whose centenary is being celebrated by his people this year.

Cuba has given another dimension to resistance, love, and human solidarity with the causes of free peoples in the face of the crimes of genocide, colonialism, and exploitation, particularly with the cause of the Palestinian people.

Imperialism wants to convince the Cuban people that their economic crisis has nothing to do with this criminal blockade that has been going on relentlessly for more than 60 years. Is there anyone sensible who can believe this statement, which defies logic?

The economic crisis that Cuba is suffering today is fundamentally a consequence of this brutal US blockade, which confirms the need to confront it.

Imperialism promises the peoples of the world bread and salmon if they submit to its interests and policies, and we say: what about the crises suffered by the peoples subjected to imperialist policies and dictates in America, Africa, and other parts of the world, who suffer poverty, hunger, exploitation, wars, plundering of their wealth, and the export of economic and social crises and moral and inhuman decay?

Cuba, despite the economic difficulties that have recently reached their peak due to this aggressive policy, based on hatred and blind arrogance, with a Secretary of State as detestable and spiteful as Marco Rubio, the reckless man who directs his boss Donald Trump in his policies that have sown chaos, hatred, and death, and who support Israel in its war of extermination against Palestine and Lebanon, and who have destroyed what little ethics remained in their relations with other countries, Cuba will continue to be, in the eyes of the world, a beacon and a compass pointing towards a better and nobler world, and with its humanitarian legacy and the heroism, generosity, and solidarity of its people with the oppressed of this earth, it confirms to the world every day that it resists this unlimited injustice, it confirms that a better future is possible, without wars or blockades.
