STATEMENT BY THE “MARTYRS OF BARBADOS” ASSOCIATION OF CUBANS RESIDING IN BARBADOS
The Association “Martyrs of Barbados”, made up of Cubans residing in Barbados, supports the Declaration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba “The United States adopts measures in the right direction, but the blockade remains”. The decision of the US Government is correct, although limited, Cuba should never have been on that arbitrary List of Alleged State Sponsors of Terrorism, because, on the contrary, the Cuban people and government have always denounced terrorist acts perpetrated against any nation in the world.
The decision is fair and we hope that it will be lasting, but we cannot be satisfied yet, we still need to eliminate the blockade, which is the greatest demand of us Cubans, for which we have fought and will continue to fight tirelessly day by day to achieve it, because it is the policy of the economic, commercial and financial blockade, together with so many other coercive measures that affect millions of Cubans.
Let us say No to the Blockade, No to the Helms Burton Act, No to all the measures adopted by the U.S. administrations that seek to asphyxiate the economy of our country and destroy Cuban families. Let us raise our voices, from every corner of the world, to continue defending our rights to be free and sovereign.
Cuba is not alone, our ties of friendship with other sister nations will continue to grow stronger and stronger because we are a people of solidarity, who offer unselfish help to those who need it, something that identifies us as Cubans. From Barbados, all Cubans who love our homeland will continue to demand that the United States Government adopt the just decision to eliminate once and for all the genocidal blockade imposed on our Cuban people.
Given in Bridgetown, Barbados, on the 15th day of the month of January 2025.
