The Press and Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Cuba to Canada, Aileén Carmenaty, held a productive meeting with the Head of the International Relations Office of Carleton University, Ridhima Peravali. During the meeting, they exchanged on the ties that unite Carleton University and the University of Havana, which date back more than 30 years, as well as on the agreements signed between both institutions.
As a result of such agreements, academic exchanges have taken place in the fields of Philosophy and History, Biology, Psychology, English Language, Methodology and Economics. Likewise, some of our professors have carried out research internships and master's programs at Carleton.
During the exchange, a topic of interest was the Canadian Studies Department created in 1994, attached to the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO) of the University of Havana, which has developed an outstanding work in the promotion and development of Canadian studies in Cuba.
They also discussed on the Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Havana and Carleton University, signed in February 2020, with the aim of expanding collaborative relations between the two higher education centers.
In addition, they addressed the participation of Carleton in future editions of events taking place in our country such as University and Pedagogy, to which the Canadian party showed great interest.
The visit was propitious to outline a course of action between the counterparts and to continue strengthening academic ties between Carleton University and Cuba.
