Carinthia, June 14, 2026 – Solidarity with Cuba continues to grow in Austria. In the state of Carinthia, the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (ÖKG) held a “Solidarity Festival” yesterday that brought together more than 150 people. The event featured a special guest, Igor Jurisic, president of the Slovenian-Cuban Friendship Association, who traveled from the neighboring country to support the initiative.
During the event in Carinthia, donations were collected that will be channeled directly through MediCuba Europa to fund new projects in the Cuban healthcare system. Speakers at the event included members of the Cuba friendship associations in Austria, Slovenia, and Italy, who explained the complex situation facing the island and the reasons why these solidarity initiatives are vital.
The success of this solidarity event in Carinthia demonstrates that the commitment to justice and international solidarity knows no borders. Austria, Slovenia, and Italy, united in this cause, reaffirm that the Cuban people can count on loyal friends willing to translate their support into concrete actions that save lives.
The ÖKG is one of the oldest and most active solidarity organizations in Europe, recognized for its ongoing efforts to support the Cuban people in the face of the intensifying U.S. economic blockade. In recent years, the association has donated thousands of euros to MediCuba Europa to fund health projects on the island.
