The Chair of African and Caribbean Studies at the University of Toronto, organized a discussion at its headquarters to support the Palestinian cause. Special guests included Rieaz Shik, High Commissioner of the Republic of South Africa, Mona Abuamara, Ambassador and Head of the Palestinian General Delegation to Canada, Robert Massoud of the Arab Federation of Canada and Dr. Melissa Levin of the Jewish Faculty Network.
During the event, the active role of the South African government in the multilateral arena in support of the Palestinian people and condemnation of the Israeli government's attacks against them was highlighted. In addition, the participation of the representatives of Cuba was thanked, highlighting the historical support to the Palestinian cause and the example of solidarity for the world that the Cuban Revolution constitutes.
The event was attended by members of the consular corps accredited in Toronto and diplomats from the province of Ontario, as well as Amin El-Maoued, president of the Palestinian house in Toronto, members of the Palestinian and South African communities, and students from the university. For his part, the Consul General of Cuba, Jorge Yanier Castellanos, thanked for the invitation to the event and reaffirmed the commitment of our country to the just cause of the Palestinian people.
