Namibia, June 22nd, 2022. - The Hon. Mr. Hamunyera Hambyuka, SWAPO Whip in the National Assembly of Namibia, received Sidenio Acosta Aday, Ambassador of Cuba to this African country, and Cuban diplomats Aldo Luis Fuentes Acosta and Rodolfo Ricardo Guzmán.
Ambassador Acosta presented to the parliamentary leader the new counsellor of the Embassy, Rodolfo Ricardo Guzmán, who will assume the functions of the second secretary, Aldo Luis Fuentes Acosta.
During the meeting, Fuentes thanked Hambyuka for the excellent working relationships established during his 5-year term in Namibia and for supporting the work of the Diplomatic Mission.
The leader of the SWAPO Caucus also expressed his gratitude to the young diplomat for the links established and welcomed the new official.
Ambassador Acosta updated Hambyuka on Cuban news. He denounced the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba, reinforced with 243 new measures by the government of President Donald Trump. Likewise, he denounced the maintenance of these sanctions by the new US administration.
Hambyuka condemned the blockade and reiterated the solidarity and support of his party and government towards Cuba.
For his part, the Cuban Ambassador thanked Namibia for its historical position of support for Cuba, expressed in different multilateral forums, such as the United Nations and the African Union.
