Taye Atske-Selassie appointed President of Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, October 7, 2024.- Take Atske-Selassie, who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs, is today appointed President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

The appointment occurred during the joint inaugural session of the House of People's Representatives (parliament) and the Federation House (Upper House) for the 2024/25 fiscal year. 

The diplomatic corps accredited in the country and ministers from all spheres were invited to the parliamentary session.

Selassie, who had served as chancellor since February 8, replaced Sahle-Work Zewde at the end of her term.
