They assert that the aggression against Venezuela is an attack on humanity

Addis Ababa, January 9, 2026.- (Prensa Latina) The United States' military aggression against Venezuela was also an aggression against the peoples of the Global South and all of humanity, denounced Sheikh Manssour Bin Mussallam, Secretary General of the Organization of Southern Cooperation (OCS), today.

Speaking at an event organized by the Cuban Embassy in Ethiopia to pay tribute to the 32 Cuban combatants killed in action, Mussallam reflected on the positions for and against this criminal act.

“Today, it is not a question of whether one has political or ideological affinity with the Venezuelan government or with the Bolivarian Revolution, nor is it a question of whether one feels political or ideological affinity with the Cuban Revolution. It is a question of the fact that people are divided into two camps, to quote José Martí: those who love and build, and those who hate and destroy,” he emphasized.

He specified that Secretary of State Marco Rubio's message on January 3rd was also for the rest of the world, and in that sense, he called for unity based on guiding principles of justice and humanism.

Regarding the 32 fallen Cuban combatants, he emphasized the need to find strength and inspiration in their example.

He reiterated his solidarity and condolences and assured "the governments and peoples of Cuba and Venezuela that, in the pursuit of that utopia of a more just world, and in the face of criminal aggression, they will always have our support, friendship, and brotherhood in the struggle for justice."

Members of the Venezuelan and Colombian embassies, Cuban residents, and representatives of friendship associations with Havana were present at the heartfelt tribute, in which each white rose and lit candle represented one of the fallen.
