They offer a tribute concert to Franz Schubert in Cuba

Today, Jan 24 , Young performers of concert music in Cuba will perform today a show in homage to the renowned Austrian composer Franz Schubert, in order to celebrate the 190 anniversary of his death in 2018.

The concert will take place in the Aula Magna of the San Gerónimo University College, in Havana, under the artistic direction of Helson Hernández.

The appointment will be the third Shubertiada in this Caribbean country, a title that appropriates the name with which it was called the popular gatherings made by Schubert (1797-1828) in his time.

According to Hernández, the program exhibits a variety of formats and begins with the Impromptu for piano, continues with the vocal works Serenata and the song Correo de pigeons, and then delves into pieces such as the Overture for string sextet and a Rondó.

Among the interpreters, the director highlighted in a recent press release the pianist Rocío Rodríguez, the soprano Niubis Cañete and the tenor Héctor Rodríguez, soloists of the Teatro Lírico Nacional de Cuba.

Also, the musician Cesar Eduardo Ramos, the violinists Manuel Alejandro de la Cruz and Iván Fernández, in the violas Marcos del Risco and Yuliet de la Concepción, and Wimian Hernández in the double bass will participate.

The Schubertiada has the support of the Austrian Embassy in Cuba and the Office of the Historian of Havana.
