The thoughts of the Apostol in force in Canada

As part of the commemorative day for the 172nd anniversary of the birth of the Apostle José Martí, the Cuban community and friends of the Island developed several initiatives in Quebec.

In this regard, a visual artist handed the work entitled “Proyecciones Martianas” (Marti’s Projections). Cubans living in Montreal exposed their considerations about the life and work of the Apostle, a moment that accompanied the image of the woodcut:

"José Martí, our Apostle. A guide of incalculable intelligence and boundless love for the Homeland who was ahead of his time to be reborn at Moncada."

“I have learned from Martí that selfishness has no place in the heart of a good person, that we must feel the pain of others as our own in order to live in peace (...) Education is a treasure and a privilege and the welfare of children must always be our priority.”

"Martí represents our identity as Cubans, he represents unity among us".

To cap it all, in defiant temperatures of -26 degrees, Cubans and friends in solidarity paid simple tribute to José Martí, at the Latin America Park in Quebec City. They exchanged ideas about the life and work of the Apostle and expressed their gratitude for the constant expressions of affection and respect towards the largest of the Antilles.
