Today we celebrate one of the most significant dates in our history: Cuban Culture Day

Addis Ababa, October 20, 2025.- This date dates back to October 20, 1868, when the people of Bayamo sang the Bayamo Anthem for the first time, a work by Pedro Figueredo "Perucho," which later became our National Anthem. That song was not just a patriotic melody: it was the cry of independence, the voice of the Cuban soul that united art and rebellion, culture and nation.

Celebrating Cuban Culture Day is a reminder that Cuba was not born solely from the armed struggle for independence, but also from poetry, song, thought and art.

Today, from our Embassy in Ethiopia, we honor that heritage and reaffirm our commitment to preserve, promote and defend Cuban culture, wherever we are.
