The rector of the University of Administration and Tourism of Azerbaijan (ATMU), Ilham Madatov, praised the collaboration between Havana and Baku during a meeting with the ambassador of Cuba in this Caucasian nation, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo.
Madatov expressed the will of his center to promote ties with the island and encourage the preparation of its students through university exchange programs in Cuban institutions.
The Azerbaijani rector commented that his nation is currently taking regular measures to transform the tourism industry and that his University, created 13 years ago at the initiative of the President of the Republic, Ilham Aliyev, has among its main objectives to create the personnel professional in that area.
Madatov and Nieves Portuondo also valued the usefulness of sharing information on the tourism development of both nations and achieving exchanges in the fields of tourism teaching, research and university extension.
The Cuban diplomat explained the tourist development of the island and stressed that Cuba is consolidating as a destination and that it is proposed to surpass this 2019, for the first time, the figure of five million international visitors.
