KINGSTON, JAMAICA, October 11, 2016. Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, Bernardo Guanche Hernandez, met with members of this country’s trade delegation to the upcoming International Fair of Havana 2016 FIHAV 2016.
The fruitful meeting, held at the venue of the Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), was also presided over by Berletta Forrester, General Manager of Commercial Development at this important institution from the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation.
During the exchange, the Cuban Ambassador ratified the willingness of the Government of Cuba to increase and strengthen the economic and commercial ties with the brother Caribbean nation, based on the collaboration and the exchange for the common benefit, through alliances, and not through unfair competition.
Likewise, the Cuban diplomat offered an update on the efforts carried out in Cuba to update the economic model despite the existence of the economic, commercial and financial blockade the United States has imposed for more than half a century.
On this policy, Guanche Hernandez explained it continues to affect the ability of Cuba to maintain normal economic, commercial relations with third countries.
Dr. Jorge Sanchez, in charge of Commercial Affairs at the Embassy of Cuba, offered details on the International Fair of Havana and highlighted the celebration of the 1st Investment Forum within the context of this important fair.
The exchange was attended by representatives of key Jamaican enterprises such as Grace Kennedy, The Shipping Association of Jamaica, Free Factory, among others.
