Tribute to the Apostle on the 170th anniversary of his birth.

Port of Spain, January 30, 2023. The film "José Martí: the eye of the canary" directed by Fernando Pérez Valdés was screened this afternoon at the National Library of Trinidad and Tobago (NALIS) as part of the tribute paid to our National Hero on the 170th anniversary of his birth.

David Abdulah, political leader of the Social Justice Movement, Peter Burke, vice president of the Association "Trinidad and Tobago Friends of Cuba" and Ozzy Warwick, representative of the oil workers union (OWTU), along with other members of such organizations. Also present were collaborators of the Cuban Medical Brigade, Cuban residents, members of the Cuban Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago and other Trinidadian friends.

The central words were in charge of the Counselor Patricia Pita Calderón who briefly narrated the revolutionary and political actions of José Martí during his short life. He also highlighted the producer's intention to delve the viewer into the daily complexity that forged the personality and character of José Martí during his childhood and adolescence.

Serve this tribute to the man of the Golden Age and the tireless fighter for the freedom of Cuba, who promoted the principles of justice and solidarity every day.

It is a privilege and an honor to always honor him.
