Tribute to the figure of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in the second year of his departure

Toronto, November 25th, 2018.- Yesterday afternoon, members of the Consulate General of Cuba in Toronto, the Association of CubanResidents in this city "Juan Gualberto Gómez", as well as members of the solidarity group with Cuba, paid tribute to the figure of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in the second year of his departure.

As part of the program, the renowned Cuban pianist based in Toronto Hilario Duran, delighted the audience with pieces of the Cuban pentagram. Gladys García, widow of Chilean friend Juan Carlos García, was also part of this tribute, declaiming "Homage to Fidel", a poem that her husband wrote after the death of the Commander in Chief.

Consul General Tania López Larroque and Julio Fonseca, president of the association “Juan Gualberto Gómez” were keynote speakers at the event. Both highlighted the consecration of the Commander in Chief to what was the essence of his life and work: the unity of the Cuban people, the sovereignty of our country and the disinterested solidarity with the peoples of the world. The Consul General of Venezuela in Toronto, Yolanda Brito, was also present.

It was the commemoration for the life and greatness of a leader devoted to the sacred office of making Marti's dreams come true.
