Nassau, January 28, 2024. Throughout January, from The Bahamas, several activities were held in commemoration of the 171st anniversary of the birth of José Martí, the most universal of all Cubans and National Hero of Cuba.
In several educational centers in the Bahamas, students have among their teachers a group of resident Cuban educators and others who comprise the Félix Varela Educational Cooperation Brigade, who have transmitted Marti's work. Numerous Cuban teachers made presentations on digital platforms, held during the month, on the work of familiarizing themselves with the figure and work of the apostle of independence that they carry out with their students.
On January 20, the Scientific-Methodological Workshop of the Cuban teachers members of the educational collaboration that for 20 consecutive years has remained in The Bahamas took place at the headquarters of the State Mission, which was dedicated to honoring Martí. At the event, experiences, and learning of Cuban teachers in their interaction with Bahamian teaching at different levels were presented. Officials from the Bahamas Ministry of Education participated, who expressed satisfaction with the performance of Cuban professionals and ratified the prospects of maintaining and increasing collaboration in educational matters.
On January 28, Cuban residents gathered at the Cuban Embassy to pay tribute to Martí in the memorial dedicated to the apostle at the headquarters. They also joined the caravan that is scheduled for every last Sunday of the month to demand the lifting of the genocidal blockade imposed on Cuba, an occasion in which Cuban residents and supportive friends, including several graduates in Cuba, paid a heartfelt tribute to José Martí in an emotional act.
At the same time, Cuban teachers who work in the Bahamas carried out voluntary work and placed flowers at the monument to José Martí which has been located since 2013 on the Island of Inagua.
