Tribute to José Martí in India.

The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Cuba in India Abel Aballe Despaigne and the Third Secretary Malena Rojas Medina paid tribute to our National Hero, on the occasion of the 171st anniversary of his birth, together with students and teachers of the public school "José Martí" located in the Indian capital. In front of the bust of the Apostle, a simple tribute was paid with a floral offering and emotional songs and speeches.

Previously, the Cuban diplomats met with the director of the center, Mahabir Singh Negi. In the exchange, Abel Aballe highlighted passages of Cuban history and Martí's crucial participation in the struggles for the independence of the Cuban nation against Spanish colonialism. He also highlighted the historical coincidences between India and Cuba in their decolonization processes, as well as the confluence of interests that we share.

This school is the only one in India named after José Martí. It has an enrollment of more than 1,300 primary and secondary students attended by a staff of 72 teachers.
