Tribute paid in Toronto to Canadian intellectual and defender of Cuban culture, Keith Ellis

The Consulate General of Cuba in Toronto, together with members of the Juan Gualberto Gómez Association of Cubans and family members, paid a well-deserved tribute to Professor Keith Ellis, an intellectual of Jamaican origin, who has worked actively in the promotion of our culture in Canada, within the framework of the Cuban Culture Day.

The Consul General, Jorge Yanier Castellanos Orta, referring to the professor, said that he is one of the greatest Cubans at heart, for all that he has contributed and contributed to the strengthening of cultural ties between the two nations and for his active support to the activities of the Consulate and the groups of solidarity with Cuba. The Consulate's staff officially presented him with a commemorative plaque with a message of gratitude for his life's work.

The president of the Association of Cubans Juan Gualberto Gómez, Julio Fonseca, thanked on behalf of the association and the Canadian Network of Solidarity with Cuba, for all that he has done in his life in defense of Cuba and for the strength with which he defends our people.

The professor shared anecdotes from his childhood, showing that his love for Cuba has been in his heart since he was a child. The music of the Cuban group, Buena Vista Social Club, of which Professor Keith Ellis is a great admirer, was also played.
