Port of Spain, October 9, 2022. On the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the terrorist attack against the Cubana de Aviación ship shot down off the coast of Barbados, a representation of the Trinidad & Tobago Friends of Cuba Solidarity Movement (TTFC), of the Justice Movement (MSJ), from the airport authorities, from the Cuban Medical Brigade that provides services in this country and from the Embassy of Cuba, placed a floral offering on the plaque commemorating the victims of the attack located at the Piarco Airport, where the aircraft made a stopover before departing for Barbados.
The vice president of the TTFC Solidarity Movement, Peter Burke, recalled the tragic event and the way in which its perpetrators operated, the role of the Trinidad and Tobago police authorities in capturing the perpetrators of this crime and the protection afforded to them, it was given to them in the US, being that country the organizer of that barbarism.
He mentioned some of the US government's aggression against Cuba, ranging from diplomatic isolation of Cuba in the OAS, the attack on Playa Giron, the multiple assassination attempts against Fidel Castro and the current blockade imposed by the US against Cuba, which has caused so many deaths caused to the Cuban people, which exceed in number those that occurred in 1976. He also highlighted the damage to the Cuban health system caused by the blockade, limiting children's access to medicines and necessary equipment.
He also highlighted the achievements of the Cuban Revolution to maintain its independence, its dignity and the right to exist as a nation, despite the aggressions of the US government.
The Ambassador of Cuba in Trinidad and Tobago, Tania Diego Olite recalled the pain caused by this ruthless crime in the Cuban people and other terrorist acts carried out against the Cuban revolution throughout these 63 years and that still do not stop today. She denounced the inclusion of Cuba in the spurious unilateral list of the United States Department of State as a country that supposedly sponsors terrorism and mentioned the consequences for the Cuban people of the inhuman and genocidal maintenance of the North American blockade.
