Namibia, February 10th, 2021- H.E. Nangolo Mbumba, member of the SWAPO Party Political Bureau and Vice President of Namibia, received at the headquarters of his offices Sidenio Acosta, the Ambassador of Cuba to this African country. In the pleasant meeting, both exchanged on the state of the historical bilateral relations and other current international issues.
Ambassador Acosta thanked the senior Namibian leader for the Nobel Peace Prize Nomination for the Henry Reeve Medical Brigade, made unanimously by the Namibian Government. He also expressed the gratitude of Cuba for the support of Namibia in the fight for the lifting of the economic, financial and commercial blockade of the United States government. In this sense, the Cuban diplomat highlighted the Namibian vote against this US policy at the UN and at the African Union Summits.
On his side, Vice President Mbumba reaffirmed the solidarity of his country with Cuba. He also expressed his gratitude for the Cuban support to his country during its liberation struggle and since it achieved its independence in 1990. He highlighted the Cuban collaboration in various sectors in Namibia and the training of the country's youth in Cuba.
Similarly, the Vice President recalled his visits to Cuba and his meetings with Cuban leaders, including Army General Raúl Castro.
Vice President Mbumba and Ambassador Acosta reaffirmed their commitment to continue working to strengthen the close ties of brotherhood between both countries.
Also participating in the dialogue were Aldo Fuentes, second secretary of the Cuban Embassy, and Klemens Detango, deputy executive director of the Vice Presidency.
