Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia received the Ambassador of Cuba

meeting Cuban Ambassador in The Gambia, Lázaro Herrera, Vice President, Mrs. Fatoumata Tambajang,

The Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia, Mrs. Fatoumata Jallow Tambajang, received Cuban Ambassador Lazaro Herrera Martínez at the Government House, with whom she held a fraternal meeting.

The occasion allowed a fruitful exchange during which the two parties expressed interest in strengthening friendship and extending the collaboration to other areas, beyond the medical assistance that the island has offered to the African country for more than two decades.

Ambassador Herrera offered the high dignitary an overview of the successes achieved by the Caribbean island, especially in sectors such as health, education, culture, science and technology, as well as important social achievements in the field of childhood and the defense of women's rights. He also referred to the progress in economic matters, despite the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba.

For her part, the vice president acknowledged the progress of the Caribbean island, despite the difficulties it has faced and expressed interest in finding ways to collaborate and take advantage of Cuba's experience addressed to the economic and social development projects that the new Gambian government has plotted for the next ten years.

Both parties reiterated their willingness to find ways to strengthen economic ties, based on the perspectives and needs of The Gambia in its new stage of development, as well as the capabilities and possibilities of the island, within the framework of the process of improving the economic model and in line with its priorities in terms of collaboration.
