Harare, January 26, 2024 - The Vice President of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa, held official talks with his Zimbabwean counterpart Kembo D.C. Mohadi.
In the exchange, the Vice Presidents highlighted the historic moment of both countries. “Zimbabwe has marked a higher stage in the relationship with Cuba, especially in the transfer of technology,” said the member of the Political Bureau and vice president of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa.
The Cuban leader called to continue the work carried out between the two countries to diversify cooperation towards other sectors of interest such as agriculture and sports. In addition, to accelerate agreements with marketing agencies, in order to benefit the export of Cuban medicines to the sister African nation.
Valdés Mesa thanked the support provided by Zimbabwe to the struggle of the Greatest island of the Antilles against the unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States Government on Cuba. He reiterated "our country's support for the brother people of Zimbabwe to cease the imposition of unilateral measures on the Southern African country by the US Government".
The Vice President Mohadi expressed that the visit of his Cuban counterpart marks the good state of bilateral relations. He thanked Cuba for its endearing solidarity with Zimbabweans, especially in the areas of health and education. He pointed out that the work of the members of the Medical Brigade is highly recognized in their country and the results they have obtained speak for themselves.
The Zimbabwean representative considered that “the governments of both countries should continue supporting and collaborating together to fight against the sanctions imposed on them” Zimbabwe, he said, appreciates Cuba's position and will always be at its side in this battle.
At the end of the official talks, an agreement was signed between both governments regarding the reciprocal elimination of the visa requirement in diplomatic, official and service passports.
