Port of Spain, April 18.- The Embassy of Cuba in Trinidad and Tobago served as the venue for the Act in commemoration of the 58th Anniversary of the Victory of Playa Girón (Bay of Pigs). The political - cultural evening included the screening of fragments of the Cuban documentary "66 horas" in which the history of the events was reviewed with real images of fact and texts by Luis Báez. In the same way those present had the opportunity to hear a fragment of the recent words of the cro. Raul Castro Ruz, during the act of proclamation of the new Constitution, which denounces the new maneuvers of the US Government. against Cuba and Venezuela and reaffirms the firm solidarity and support for the Bolivarian and Chavez Revolution, President Nicolás Maduro Moros and the Civic Union of his people, while expressing the just demand for the release of Comrade Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, one year after his unjust imprisonment.
The commemoration of such an important event for the history of Latin America and the Caribbean, took place in a regional political context characterized by the resurgence of the aggressiveness of the US government. against Cuba and the strengthening of the blockade, which was reflected in the interventions of the different speakers who spoke, as well as the deep conviction that all these hostile actions have been, are and will be defeated, one after the other, as in Girón.

The event was attended by David Abdulah, political leader of the Movement for Social Justice (MSJ), Clyde Callender, president of the Association of Friendship with Cuba "Friends of Cuba" and Tania Diego Olite, ambassador of Cuba in Trinidad and Tobago, as well as representatives of various trade union organizations, movements of solidarity with Cuba, Cuban health collaborators working in this country and other members of the Cuban diplomatic mission.
