Last week, IHE Delft was honoured to receive a visit from the Ambassador of Cuba to the Netherlands, H.E. Soraya Elena Álvarez Nuñez. The visit was planned to celebrate the end of a 5 year project, ‘Mas Agua para Todos’, the purpose of which is to help Cuba adapt to climate change and mitigate water scarcity by innovative urban water management.
During the visit, the Ambassador met IHE Delft’s new Rector, Eddy Moors, staff and Cuban partners who had been involved in the project.
Discussion revolved around working together to attract more students to pursue Master and PhD programmes. Also the hope was expressed that further projects are initiated on the implementation of practices and technologies, to reduce the water scarcity in the agricultural sector in Cuba and to support and maintain the growth and development of the urban and tourism sectors.
