Kerala, december 13th- At the invitation of the Department of Political Science of the University of Kerala, the Ambassador of Cuba to India, accompanied by First Secretary Maiky Díaz Pérez, participated in the IndiaLICS 2025 event, dedicated to Innovation Systems from Global Perspectives. During the inaugural session, the Cuban Ambassador had the opportunity to present Cuba’s science and innovation system, its challenges, and its contributions to South–South cooperation.
As part of the visit to Kerala, they held a meeting with Mr. V. Sivankutty, Kerala’s State Minister for Education and Labour. Experiences related to the respective education systems were exchanged, and possible actions to promote bilateral cooperation between both countries were assessed.
The Pedagogía and Universidad Congresses were also promoted.
In a meeting with Mr. B. Ashok, Director of the Department of Agriculture of the Government of Kerala, possibilities for collaboration were explored in the areas of food production, agricultural equipment, and the coconut industry, in which India has millennia of experience.
Ambassador Marsán also met with Nitheesh Narayanan, former President of the Students’ Federation of India and author of a memoir about his visit to Cuba in 2024, learning about the recent English-language edition of the book.
This visit to Kerala on December 12 and 13 reaffirmed solidarity with the Island and continued to strengthen diplomatic relations between Cuba and India.
