Addis Ababa, April 12 , 2018. The Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mr. Thomas Kwesi Quartey arrived in Santiago de Cuba to participate in the XVI International Conference on African and African-American Culture.
The visit of the high level representative of the African Union coincided with the 30th Anniversary of the African Cultural Center "Fernando Ortiz", institution that precisely organizes the event.
The Deputy Chairperson of the AU delivered a lecture on the current developments within the organization and also paid respects to the Historic Leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro in the local cemetery and to General Antonio Maceo.
Mr. Quartey was welcomed by the President of the Provincial Assembly of the People´s Power in Santiago de Cuba, H.E. Mrs. Beatriz Johnson, later he meet the African Diplomatic Corps and a group of African students.
