Addis Ababa, September 25, 2024.- Chargé d'affaires a.i., Natalys Dinza receives the Official in Charge of Education Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan in Ethiopia, Mr. Kun Puok Riek, who made a working visit to the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy.

Natalys thanked Mr. Puok for his visit, while highlighting the historical ties and friendship that unite Cuba with the youngest country in the world. She also thanked the position taken by the South Sudanese Government in support of Cuba in the fight against the blockade.

Mr. Puok, for his part, highlighted the admiration of the South Sudanese towards Cuba, of which he said, "Cuba is a small island that has done giant acts for the rest of the world and to which we owe much of our independence."

During the meeting, both parties discussed issues of interest in education and addressed as their main issue the gradual incorporation of South Sudanese doctors to the study of medical specialties in Cuba, a measure that will help bring health services to less favored communities in young South Sudan.

Puok thanked the Cuban government for the incorporation of new medical students through the annual granting of free scholarships, which has helped reduce the shortage of health professionals in the country.

Other issues of common interest to both governments were addressed.
